Seven-story grand atrium |
With the 398-passenger Century Paragon now in service on China’s Yangtze River, Century Cruises’ fleet has grown to six vessels and added new features like Executive Club all-suite levels and the first indoor pool and leisure area on the river. Sister vessel Century Legend is due to arrive in two months.
Century Cruises’ Richard Xie, director of sales and marketing, said the new vessel has exceeded expectations.
Designed for Western travelers, the interiors are by architects Yran & Storbraaten and feature exterior glass elevators, a seven-story grand atrium and a 2,000sq ft indoor pool and leisure area.
The ship has a large multifunction room with 12ft ceilings that hosts evening performances and guest lectures. The space, built without pillars, also serves as a venue for meetings, conferences and events. A 150-seat HD cinema offers multilingual capabilities. Wi-Fi is available throughout the ship.

All the 196 accommodations have balconies. A pair of 1,140sq ft Presidential Suites top the offerings, and there are 34 Executive Suites, each 415sq ft, located on suite-only Executive Club decks. The ship also has four 323sq ft Junior Suites and 156 Riverview Staterooms, each 301sq ft.
All accommodations come with daily maid and turn-down service, superior king-sized bedding, all-cotton luxury linens, separate sitting area, LCD satellite televisions (with channels including HBO and CNN), individually controlled air conditioning, bath with separate tub and shower, and personal grooming amenities.

In addition, suites get butler service, Italian coffee makers, mini bar, DVD players, daily snacks and fruit.
The forward-facing Presidential Suites feature a large wrap-around balcony with chaise lounges. Executive Club and Presidential Suite passengers can use an exclusive Executive Club á la carte restaurant, bar and reception area, while Presidential Suite passengers also get room service.
Century Paragon sails Tuesdays on three-night itineraries downstream between Chongqing and Yichang and on Fridays for four-night itineraries upstream on the same route. Century Legend will sail upstream on Tuesdays and downstream on Saturdays.
Cruises visit the Yangtze highlights of Shibao Pagoda, the Three Gorges of Daning River (or Shennong Stream) and the Three Gorges Dam, and transit the dam’s locks system.
